Strategic Value
This portfolio includes Ocelot Valley, Pristimantis Ridge, and Sapano Ridge Farmhouse. It has two major streams (Sapano and Tabuga), waterfalls, an abandoned farmhouse, old-growth rainforest, an ongoing reforestration site, and views of the Pacific Ocean and coastal mountain range. There have been numerous sightings and camera trap photos of ocelots (“tigrillo” in Spanish) in these properties. Pristimantis is the name of a diverse genus of “rain frogs” commonly found during night hikes here.
Carbon Benefit
Sponsoring this property today and continuing to conserve it over the long term has a net carbon benefit of 1,259 metric tons of CO2 per year. That is equivalent to the annual energy use of about 93 average American homes, or removing 274 gas-powered cars from the road.
